Assassin: The new mesmer
They have no armor, cant take a hit so they can't lead a mission of henchies. The skills are all about status disorders and only other assassins like to group with them.
Just like the mesmer!

Not to be fickle or shallow, but I think a good reason people don't intially start as Mesmer is because of the Mesmer's appearance.

They have some of the best looking armors and facial features though, IMO 80% of all the factions stuff just looks idiotic, i dont want to be asian, im not asian, and im never going to be asian, and for god sakes why are factions mesmers so fat

Er... mesmers own PvP. Mesmers are underused in PvE but much like rangers that is balanced off with overuse in PvP. I clearly doubt anyone will argue the case that a mesmer can't single handedly destroy just about anything ANYHOW. Assassins perhaps are going to follow a similar path. I have played with some very descent assassins and think the class has potential. Am I going to sweat it? Hell, no! I play a mesmer- I kill assassins in 2-3 secs max.

I've led several successful runs with henchmen on my assassin, it's not even hard. The henches I took with me were:
Fighter
Guardian
Healer
Protector
Interruptor
Spirit
Mage
Works really smoothly if you avoid the larger groups of mobs. (took out about 8 lvl 28 mobs at once with this lot, large groups of 20-24 mobs seem tougher)

#1) They dont have high armor because they arent WARRIORS.
#2) So what if you cant take a hit; evade, kite, block, blind, or buff yourself.
#3) Henchies are only as smart as the human controlling them. Focus their attacks and they are efficient killing machines. I;ve done THK with henchies with my mesmer doing very little work on my own.
#4) Their skills are not just status conditions. They can be very versatile. Learn your skills, use some imagination, make a new build.
#5) Sins group with Sins cause theres so many of them running around.
Final Point: Mesmers and Sins are not close to, nor are they equal to, each other in purpose, strengths, weaknesses, or ranking.

I am playing assassin and have used henchies for all my missions and have not had a single problem. I even beat the Attack the Kurzick with henchies. It doesn't matter what class you are you just need to know how to play that class.

Youre joking right?
First off, the assassins are not going to be holding the keg (or in factions) The turtle shell? Anyways, if you draw all the agro on you, you will die and this is the same for any character just some quicker than others. Lets go over what an assassin is by definition a murderer who kills by a treacherous surprise attack, with this said you kind of get the general idea of how one should be used, not to charge in head first into a fight and draw all the agro, pick a target in which you have an advantage over (since you are using melee it will most likely be a caster) go in, kill the target and leave. I have done this plenty of times (even with henchmen) I wont give all skills but Recall on a monk, death charge on a caster, your usual chain of attacks and bam, a dead enemy (with my build atleast) kill recall and you are back at the monk with no damage done to yourself.

Try A/Me with Fragility + Black Mantis Thrust + Jungle Strike + Twisting Fangs. That's what I do and boy does it work well.

I agree.
I think, also, that assassin/mesmer and mesmer/assassin may be nice mixings.
I like mesmer, I use it for PvE and PvP, think that for PvE my friends like better if I go with my monk. And I plan to play an assassin as my third more played character. I have done all the game with all 6 professions, to know them and to unlock skills, and I plan to play the ritualist in this manner.

I personally like the assassins and think they are very powerfull if you use them right. we tanked 3 groups of those dread things, with a necro boss and their monk, it took 10 minutes, but we did. and i never died once. its all about how you do it. go in, lay down your combo, do some extra hits, run out and recharge. if you haven't figured out how to use your character yet, then dont downsize it. because its not supposed to be another tank class at all.

If you're talking RA or PvE, I'll have to award you the coveted "most inaccurate post of the week" award.

Well, there is truth in this, at least, and just like with mesmers mainly due to the braindeadness of followers of FOtMs and cookie-cutter builds.

You all had some very good points, and in retrospect I didn't really experiment with the build as much as I did with my other characters. I'll have to give the sin another try in April.

Excuse me. I have a mesmer as my main character. And I have completed different missions with success only using hench. There are a great deal of ways that mesmers can avoid being damaged or atleast avoid being heavily damaged. And mesmers have a good range of DoT spells. Don't comment on a class when you OBVIOUSLY haven't tried it.
